Snow Smitten Candle Huggers: Retro Snowman Christmas Decor Inspired by Holt Howard

A little flirty. A little mischievous. Completely smitten.

Meet the Snow Smitten Candle Huggers, the newest pair from Retro Revival Studio. Two ceramic snowmen, inspired by a late-1950s Holt Howard design, who wrap their arms and legs around your taper candles and steal the show on your mantel.

What Is a Candle Hugger?

Candle huggers, also called candle climbers, are small figurines shaped to wrap around a taper candle. Mid-century giftware companies made them by the dozen, and Holt Howard's versions rank among the most collected. Vintage originals in good shape are hard to find, and the ones you do find often have chips, crazing or missing paint.

Retro Revival brings the look back, fresh and ready to display.

Meet the Snow Smitten Pair

These two snow sweethearts have personality from their pom-poms to their black boots.

• The flirt. Red stocking cap, rosy cheeks and a sideways glance aimed right at his sweetheart.
• The winker. A holly bow on her cap, a cheeky wink and a look of pure delight.
• The matching details. Bright red scarves, holly-trimmed yellow mittens, glossy winter-white bodies and cherry red noses.

Their curved arms and curled legs hug your candles, so a plain pair of tapers turns into a Christmas scene.

How to Style Snowman Candle Huggers

• Mantel moment. Set them on brass candlesticks at each end of your mantel, facing each other.
• Holiday table. Add them to a centerpiece with greenery, pinecones and vintage ornaments.
• Collector shelf. Group them with your Holt Howard pieces and mid-century Christmas figurines.
• Color pick. Red tapers bring out their holiday colors best. Green or cream tapers give a softer, vintage look.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.
